Full-Scope Sewer Line Repair, From the Street to Your House

When people call us about a sewer line problem, they're not looking for a partial fix. They need the whole thing handled.

That's exactly what we do.

We do all types of sewer line repairs in Durango and the surrounding Four Corners region. That means we'll go right out into the middle of the street, tap into the main, and run a new line all the way to the house.

Here's what that work includes:

  • Cutting the asphalt to access the line
  • Locating the existing sewer and assessing the damage
  • Tapping into the main and running a new line to the house
  • Backfilling with special flow fills and special backfills
  • Patching the asphalt
  • Repairing the sidewalk
  • Restoring the curb and gutter

Every surface we open, we close.

A lot of contractors stop at the pipe and hand the surface work off to someone else. That means you're left coordinating a second crew for a job that should have been one call. With Animas, it is.

This is the work we started with. Sewer line repair is where this company was built, and it’s something we know as well as any job we do.

Signs Your Sewer Line Needs Repair

Most sewer line problems show up in a few recognizable ways. If you're seeing any of the following, it's time to call for a broken sewer line repair in Durango before the problem gets worse. Common warning signs:
  • Slow drains affecting multiple fixtures at the same time, not just one sink
  • Gurgling sounds from toilets or drains when water is running elsewhere
  • Foul odors near floor drains or out in the yard
  • Soggy or unusually green patches of grass with no obvious cause
  • Sewage backing up into a basement floor drain or ground-floor toilet
A few Durango-specific things worth knowing:
  • Older homes in established neighborhoods often have aging cast iron or clay pipe that tends to fail quietly
  • Hard rock is common during sewer excavation in Southwest Colorado and can affect depth, timeline, and repair scope
  • We flag rock conditions upfront before any work begins
One thing that catches local homeowners off guard: you're responsible for the service line running from your house to the city main. The city owns the main in the street. If you've received a notice from the city about your service line, that's exactly the work we handle.

Who this service is for

If you’re a homeowner in Durango, Bayfield, Hesperus, Mancos, Cortez, Pagosa Springs, or anywhere in the Four Corners region with a sewer line problem, you’re in the right place.

We work with homeowners dealing with a failing service line, property owners with aging pipe that’s past its service life, and anyone who’s received a notice from the City about a line that needs attention. If the repair requires right-of-way work or permits, we handle all of it.

We also work with new landowners and builders who need a sewer line run from the city main to a home under construction.

How Sewer Line Repair Works: Our Process

Why an Excavation Company, Not Just a Plumber

Some sewer line repairs are straightforward. If the problem is inside the property and doesn't require breaking ground in the street, a plumber can handle it.

But when the repair requires cutting asphalt, tapping into the city main, managing complex backfill, and restoring every surface you opened, that's excavation work. Sewer line repair is where this company started, and it's as familiar to us as any job we run.

Hard rock is common during sewer excavation in the Durango area. We have the equipment to handle it, and we'll flag it early if we think it's a factor on your job.

If a plumber has told you your repair is going to require excavation, that's the point where you call us.

Sewer line repair pricing and what to expect

We don't publish price ranges because sewer line repairs vary too much to give a number that means anything. Depth, soil conditions, rock, and the length of the run all affect the final cost. What we can tell you is exactly how our pricing works.

Free estimates are standard. Once we've seen the site and determined the scope, we'll tell you which structure applies to your job:

  • Fixed-cost bid if the scope is clear, a hard number with no surprises
  • Time-and-materials if conditions are uncertain, so you're only paying for what the job actually requires

No deposit required on most repair work. We'll walk you through the pricing structure on the estimate visit so you know what to expect before any work begins.

If price is a concern, the best thing you can do is call us early. The sooner we can look at the job, the sooner we can give you a number you can actually plan around.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sewer Line Repair in Durango

The City of Durango owns and maintains the main sewer line in the street. The service line running from your house to that main is your responsibility as the property owner. If the break or failure is anywhere in that stretch, the repair falls to you.

If the work requires going into the city right-of-way to reach the main, a permit is required. We coordinate that process so you don’t have to navigate it alone.

A clog usually affects one fixture. One slow drain, one backed-up toilet. When the problem is further down the line, you’ll see it across multiple fixtures at the same time. Foul odors in the yard, soggy ground with no obvious cause, or sewage backing up into a basement floor drain are all signs of something more serious than a local clog. A camera inspection confirms what’s going on before any digging starts.

We don’t. Camera inspection is typically done by a plumber as a diagnostic step. If that inspection has confirmed you need excavation work, a new line run, or a main tap, that’s where we come in. We handle the excavation and full repair from that point forward.

Most repairs take one to three days. It depends on the depth of the line, how easily we can access it, and whether the repair requires street-level work. We give you a timeline along with the estimate so you know what to plan for before we start.

If the repair requires excavation, some surface disruption is unavoidable. We’ll be honest with you about that upfront. What we can tell you is that every surface we open, we close. Asphalt gets patched, the sidewalk gets repaired, and the curb and gutter gets restored. We don’t leave that to another contractor.

Hard rock is common during excavation in Southwest Colorado. When we hit rock, it can affect how deep we can access the line, how long the repair takes, and what it costs. We have the equipment to handle it. If we see site conditions that suggest rock is likely, we’ll flag it before work begins so there are no surprises.

It depends on the scope. If the repair stays on your property and doesn’t enter the city right-of-way, a permit may not be required. If the work goes into the street to reach the main, a permit is required. We coordinate that process as part of the job.
